Rainy Day Squirrels

I cut through the park on my way home and was surprised to see so many squirrels out in the rain. I guess that was because it wasn't that cold even though it was wet. Each carries a nut (acorn) around in it's mouth (it's the fall fashion) but isn't eating it and usually drops it in favor of a fresh walnut from Chinatown. They look both odd and pretty in their rain coats... dare I say like plump drowned rats? Recently their coats have gotten so thick that they look fat and funny when they run. And they jump way high up in the air to avoid the puddles! I look down at them all and see that they are the most beautiful squirrels in the world.
